Suspended Teacher Targets School District
A teacher accused of fondling teenage girls has filed a claim against the Coeur d’Alene School District, contending he illegally was suspended from his job last June.
Paul T. Mather is scheduled to stand trial Monday for allegedly touching two Canfield Middle School students on their breasts and buttocks earlier this year. The girls were 13 and 14 years old.
Mather, 49, maintains his innocence.
Seeking unspecified damages, Mather says he has suffered loss of reputation and enjoyment of life, humiliation, embarrassment, sleep loss, mortification, wage loss and loss of earning capacity.
If the school district does not respond to the claim within 90 days, Mather is free to file suit.
Mather’s claim was filed Nov. 27. On Nov. 6, a claim was filed against the district on behalf of the family of one alleged victim.
The family contends district officials should have kept Mather away from young girls because they knew or should have known that he might abuse them. , DataTimes
