Forest Industry Meetings To Begin
Finding new ways to resolve national forest problems highlights the agenda of the 10th-annual meeting of the Intermountain Forest Industry Association.
Themed “Solving the Puzzle,” the gathering will begin this afternoon at The Coeur d’Alene Resort with member business meetings. The annual suppliers reception will start at 6 p.m. in the Hagadone Suite of the resort.
U.S. Rep. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, will open Thursday’s noon luncheon with his assessment of the November elections and the next Congress. Crapo is a member of the House Republican Leadership Committee.
The luncheon will be followed at 1:30 p.m. by a panel discussion on “Solving the Puzzle … Conflict or Collaboration?”
Panelists will include former Idaho Gov. and U.S. Interior Secretary Cecil Andrus, Clinton administration official Tom Tuchman, “High Country News” publisher Ed Marston and Crapo. They will be joined by Ann Klee, environmental counsel to U.S. Sen. Dirk Kempthorne, R-Idaho.
A 10th-anniversary banquet Thursday evening will include a tribute to outgoing association President Dick Bennett.
A series of presentations and workshops will be held Friday on politics and the environment and the outlook for 1997. , DataTimes
