The women’s basketball team at North Idaho College celebrated its national ranking with a 72-36 thrashing of Wenatchee Valley in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

NIC, 9-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play, was ranked 20th in this week’s national junior college poll.

Wenatchee (3-4) didn’t score in the first 8 minutes of the game as NIC took off to a 12-0 lead on its way to a 32-19 halftime advantage.

Guard Angie Dickson had 14 points and forward Jana Nearing 11 for the Cardinals, who played everyone on the roster.

Wenatchee was held to 23-percent field-goal shooting, hitting just 12 of 53 shots.

NIC returns to conference play with road games at Snow College on Friday and Dixie College on Saturday.

College of Southern Idaho (10-1, 1-0) entered the poll at No. 10.
