Teacher Seeks Help For Animals, Too

Helping out the homeless for Christmas has become a tradition. But what if the lost souls have fur and four feet?

Canfield Middle School teacher Carol Kinsey is determined to find at least temporary homes this season for the lost and abandoned pets in the Kootenai County Humane Society’s shelter.

Kinsey operates a booth at the Silver Lake Mall, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., every Saturday this month to showcase clean, disciplined, vaccinated and neutered dog and cat orphans.

Adoption is her goal, but she also encourages temporary “foster” care to keep the shelter uncrowded and reduce the need for euthanasia. Last Saturday, 11 dogs and one cat were adopted.
