Ex-Bank Worker Admits Embezzling
A former employee of First Interstate Bank has pleaded guilty to embezzling almost $180,000 from the bank over a period of eight months, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
David L. Norwood was assistant vice president and marketing manager for the Boeing and Seattle Industrial branches when he transferred money from the bank’s general ledger suspense account to his own accounts, U.S. Attorney Kate Pflaumer said..
Norwood, 32, of Newcastle, admitted Wednesday to embezzling $178,350 between May 16, 1995, and Jan. 4, 1996, Pflaumer said.
He agreed to pay the entire amount as restitution to First Interstate Bank, now known as Wells Fargo Bank, as part of his plea agreement, Pflaumer said.
Norwood is to be sentenced in federal court on Feb. 24. He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine. xxxx
