Daniel Hartel Named To Dean’s List

Daniel Hartel, Coeur d’Alene, recently made the dean’s list at ITT Technical Institute in Spokane.

Hartel, a computer-aided drafting student set to graduate in June of 1997, maintained a 3.84 grade-point average during the last quarter.

Six local teachers were nominated by students in October for Who’s Who Among American Teachers and were cited for making a difference in their students’ lives.

Charlotte Applegate, Miriam Foster, Ryan Wood, Ray Haeg, Katheryn Kahn, and Steve Konkright.

Lakeside Masonic Lodge No. 42 recently installed new officers at the Masonic Temple in Sandpoint.

The officers and their positions are as follows: Mike Nelson, worshipful master; Paul Ousley, senior warden; Don Nelson, junior warden; Steve Crane, senior deacon; Mark Jones, junior deacon; James Stark, secretary; Chuck Humes, treasurer; Larry Tassie, musician; and C.R. Evans, tyler.

Stacie Ferger, a Rathdrum resident and a student in Purdue University’s School of Consumer and Family Sciences, recently received a $2,000 Nancy Creech Neubert Scholarship for the 1996-97 academic year.

Ferger, a retail management major and daughter of Marvin and Susan Davis of Rathdrum, was selected based on the criteria of U.S. citizenship, financial need and academic standing.

Debbie Johnson, of the Idaho Department of Lands, Coeur d’Alene Fire Bureau, has been honored as the Fire Program Support Employee of the Year at the annual forestry and fire meetings.

Johnson, a 12-year IDL veteran was cited for hard work, dedication, and a helpful, cheerful attitude. Her duties include processing time sheets, filling in for co-workers on fire assignment and accounting for hazard management deposits.

Johnson also serves as a type III finance/administration section chief and a a time unit leader and has used her dispatch experience to assist the Mica Forest Protection District.
