Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I work for a photofinishing company and we get hundreds of undeveloped rolls of film. My tips are for uses of 35mm film.

Do not put the film back in the canisters to send to be developed. Use a piece of tape or colored pencil to put a mark on the film as soon as you take it from the camera.

Save the canisters for a multitude of uses on their own. They only get thrown away by the developers. - Pat Nicholson, East Hartford, Conn.

We checked with a major film processing company. They said the bottom of the canister should have a recycling symbol on it. So, recycle and reuse! - Heloise

Dear Heloise: To recycle an empty designer tissue box (the upright kind), I fill the container with wrapped, prefolded sanitary napkins. The top opening is far more convenient than the plastic bag the articles are packaged in.

The box becomes an orderly dispenser. - Lynne Boardman, Harrisonburg, Va.
