Tourney Boss Turns Back Clock With All-Time Team

Tri-State Tournament director Bill Pecha wanted to do something special in honor of the 25th anniversary of the prestigious high school wrestling tournament.

So on a day that was already loaded with last-minute preparations for the two-day tourney, Pecha rolled out of bed Thursday at 4 a.m. and picked an all-time tournament team.

The tourney has featured so many outstanding wrestlers that Pecha had to choose two at each weight. He listed the team in the tournament program.

He figured it would stir up conversation and memories. He also thought it would be controversial.

“There have been a lot of great wrestlers, and I probably overlooked somebody I’m sure,” Pecha said. “So if it makes people talk about it that’s great.”

Here’s a look at the team, weight by weight, with a little biographical information on each wrestler.
