Common Ground Sought

Wildlife management

Taking off on a forum that’s been used by the forest industry and Idaho wildlife managers, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Department is sponsoring a Fish and Wildlife Congress Jan. 10-11 at Evergreen State College.

Virtually anyone with enough interest to devote two days to discussions and presentations can attend, said department director Bern Shanks. The congress should attract a wide range of interests under one roof, including landowners, sportsmen, commercial sport fishers and consumptive and non-consumptive wildlife users, he said.

Participants will be separated into groups that will hammer out options for watershed management, salmon and steelhead restoration, access to fish and wildlife, habitat conservation planning, wildlands restoration, marine resources protect, and wildlife enforcement.
