CV Captures Inland Empire Cup

Central Valley placed two duos in the top four in the all-around competition Saturday and won the seventh annual Inland Empire Cup gymnastics meet at North Central.

Third-place Leslie Sagastumue and Lindsay Zacher, and fourth-place Lindsay Linerud and Sarah Shyrack guided the Bears to 129.15 points.

Second-place Mead scored 124.25, led by Heather Salo and Marki Stewart. The two combined to place fifth in the all-around, and Salo won the beam with a 9.0. Kaysi Crouse and Jauna Demott scored 34.9 to win the all-around and help Port Angeles to third place. Demott won the vault (9.0).

Kacey Frederickson, who won the floor (9.3), teamed with Kim George to place second in the all-around (34.2) for fourth-place Ferris.

The host Indians finished fifth, guided by Heidi McCullough’s win on the bars (8.95).

Kamiakin of the Big Nine Conference won the event last year.
