Stanford Holds Off Seton Hall

Brevin Knight, who finished with just one field goal, made two free throws with 3.6 seconds left in overtime Sunday night to give No. 22 Stanford an 83-81 victory over host Seton Hall as Cardinal center Tim Young had a career-high 31 points and 16 rebounds.
Knight, a preseason All-American, finished with 14 points, but his only basket of the game in nine shots came with 2:08 to play in overtime and gave Stanford (6-1) a 78-75 lead. John Yablonski, a seldom-used former walk-on, banked in a 3-pointer with 1:47 left to tie the game.
Pete Van Elswyk made three free throws around a missed 3-pointer by Shaheen Holloway to give the Cardinal an 81-78 lead with 45 seconds left.
Seton Hall (3-4) had one last chance and, after three timeouts, Holloway’s 3-pointer from just in front of the Pirates bench went down into the basket and spun out.

At Ames, Iowa, the Cyclones (8-0) got 15 points from surprise starter Dedric Willoughby and held Texas-El Paso (5-2) scoreless for 5-1/2 minutes early in the second half en route to a victory in the championship game of the ISU Holiday Classic.
Iowa State scored 12 straight points during the Miners’ drought and pulled away, giving coach Tim Floyd a victory in his meeting with his former boss, Don Haskins.

At College Station, Texas, Terrell McIntyre scored 21 points and Greg Buckner added 19, leading the Tigers to a victory over the Aggies.
Clemson (10-1) led 38-21 at halftime, but the Aggies (6-2) opened the second half with a 22-9 run.

At Durham, N.C., The Blue Devils (8-2) used a 25-0 first-half run to beat undersized Army, handing the Cadets (3-2) one of the worst losses in their history.
It was the biggest margin of victory for the Blue Devils since a 130-54 win over Harvard in 1989.

At Princeton, N.J., the Tar Heels (9-1) withstood a second-half barrage of 3-pointers and managed to escape Jadwin Gym with a victory over the Tigers (5-3).
