What’s the difference between a pair of 5-0 teams?

Thirty points, as it turned out Saturday when Reardan opened its Christmas tournament with a 67-37 win over Selkirk. James Kiger had 12 rebounds and Peter Eastman 19 points and five assists for the Indians (6-0), who held the Rangers (5-1) scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Reardan will play St. George’s at 7:30 tonight for the title. The consolation game was canceled. The tourney had been delayed one day because of travel conditions.

John Galbreath scored 26 points and the Broncos (9-0) made 18 of 29 firsthalf field goals to break the visiting Tigercats’ seven-game winning streak.

Danny Duff had seven assists for Ritzville, which outscored L-W 16-6 at the free-throw line. Troy Nealey scored 19 for the Tigercats (7-2), who opened their season with a nine-point loss to Ritzville.

D.J. Goldsmith had 10 rebounds and teamed with Andy Schmidt to hold down Travis Greenwalt as the host Scotties (5-3) beat the Lancers (4-3) in the title game for their fifth straight victory.

Greenwalt, who has averaged 25 points in Bi-County League play, scored 10 and fouled out with 6 minutes left. Liberty’s Jeremy Engle scored 20 on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range.

Because Pullman couldn’t make it to the tourney, Chewelah’s varsity let the junior varsity play against Class B competition. Chewelah’s JV beat J.R. Crowe of British Columbia 48-39 for the title.

VC’s Tim Dahl added four assists.

Falls Christian of Post Falls beat Canadian team R.F. Staples in the consolation. No details were reported.
