Isu Will No Longer Host Army Reserve Officers
Idaho State University no longer will host the hundreds of Army Reserve officers who have trained in Pocatello during the past seven summers.
The Command and Staff College training previously based in Pocatello now will be conducted at Fort Sill, Okla., under a directive requiring all reserve training to be conducted at Defense Department facilities.
The Army Reserve used the Idaho State University campus for classroom work, not physical training. Participants lived in the residence halls for the nine weeks, which brought the university about $2.5 million over seven years.
Peterson is looking for other groups to take the Army’s place. The housing department can provide up to 800 beds, meal service, conference space and computers.
