They said it

“We have taxpayer dollars going for lobbying against what the people want.” - Rep. Jeff Alltus, R-Coeur d’Alene, proposing a bill to ban lobbying with public funds.

Votes

Some of the votes cast by North Idaho lawmakers:

Suspend them: The Senate, on a 26-8 vote, approved legislation to suspend driver’s, hunting, fishing, business and other licenses of parents who refuse to pay child support or comply with visitation orders. Sens. Mary Lou Reed, D-Coeur d’Alene; Tim Tucker, D-Porthill; Clyde Boatright, R-Rathdrum; and Gordon Crow, R-Hayden, voted yes. Sen. Marguerite McLaughlin, D-Orofino, voted no. The bill now moves to the House.

CFC me: The House Environmental Affairs Committee voted 6-4 to introduce legislation by Rep. Ralph Gines, R-Boise, that would declare banned chlorofluorocarbons legal again in Idaho. Gines said he doesn’t believe scientists who say the compounds destroy the earth’s protective ozone layer. Rep. Wayne Meyer, R-Rathdrum, voted in favor.

Underground: The Senate voted 20-10 for a bill to delete a law limiting miners to no more than eight hours a day work underground, or 10 hours total. Boatright and Crow voted yes; Tucker and Reed voted no. The bill now goes to the House.
