Oregon St. Demolishes Cougars

Women’s basketball

Tanja Kostic scored a game-high 22 points, Oregon State’s defense limited Washington State to just 21 second-half points and the Beavers dominated the Cougars 87-50 in Pacific-10 Conference action Thursday night at Gill Coliseum.

Jenni Ruff paced WSU (15-6, 6-4) with 14 points and 13 rebounds, but just two of her points came in the second half. Yvonne Kunze added 12 points for the Cougars, with all but three coming in the first half.

The Beavers (15-4, 7-3) used a 22-7 run to put the game away early in the final half, leaving the last 10 minutes of the game to the reserves for both squads.”I don’t know where this team was tonight, maybe caught at midcourt,” Cougars coach Harold Rhodes said after WSU shot just 24 percent for the game and only 14.8 percent (4 for 27) in the second half.

The Beavers moved into sole possession of second place in the Pac-10. Oregon State is a game ahead of Washington State and Washington.
