Man Gets 2 Months For Killing Dog

From Staff And Wire Reports

An Auburn man has been sentenced to two months in jail for killing a Chesapeake Bay retriever by tossing it a large firecracker.

Steven L. Wright, 18, pleaded guilty to first-degree animal cruelty in King County Superior Court on Dec. 19.

In addition to jail time, Wright also must do 30 days of community service.

Judge LeRoy McCullough on Friday ruled that Wright had to make restitution and pay court costs.

Wright and some others were playing around on June 29 when he tossed a lighted firecracker to Kelsie, owned by the Kevin Chevalier family.

The dog picked up the firecracker, which exploded in its mouth.
