Nic Has No Problem Against Eastern Utah
In a rematch of one of the most exciting Scenic West Athletic Conference games of the year, the North Idaho College men’s basketball team avenged an earlier loss at home with an 81-69 victory over Eastern Utah on Friday night.
Darnell McCoy kept the Cardinals in the game with hot shooting in the first half on his way to 24 points. His team trailed by six at the break.
McCoy’s backcourt-mate, Steve Helm, took over in the second half as NIC went up by as many as 21 points. Helm shot 8 of 8 from the field and finished with 22 points.
The Eagles (20-6, 8-5) were paced by Versile Shaw with 24 points and nine rebounds. The loss knocked them out of a four-way tie for second place.
NIC (22-4 10-4) lost earlier in the season at home to the Eagles in a 81-79 battle that saw the Cardinals come back late in the fourth quarter only to fall short as time ran out.
