Senate Passes Bill For Clark House To Get Special Liquor License

From Staff And Wire Reports

Legislation to allow the Clark House on Hayden Lake to get a special liquor license narrowly passed the Senate on Wednesday.

One lawmaker told sponsor Sen. Gordon Crow, R-Hayden, that the bill was drawn too broadly and could apply to other properties. Another told Crow the bill was too specific, raising constitutional questions about special legislation.

A third senator told Crow the Clark House should go through the state liquor dispensary, which should decide where liquor is sold. But that agency deals only with liquor stores, not liquor licenses for bars and restaurants.

Several senators said they don’t like the fact the Legislature must consider special liquor licenses.

Crow noted there’s no other way, under Idaho law, that the Clark House could get a liquor license.

The measure passed the Senate in a 19-15 vote. It now goes to the House. , DataTimes
