Washington State At California

Tipoff: The Cougars (14-8 overall, 6-7 Pac-10) go for their sixth straight victory when they visit Cal for today’s 2 p.m. game against the Golden Bears (15-8, 9-5).

At a glance: Two of the best players on the West Coast face off when WSU senior forward Mark Hendrickson and Cal freshman forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim meet. Abdur-Rahim had 32 points and 18 rebounds when the Bears defeated the Cougars 87-79 on Jan. 25. That was Hendrickson’s first game after suffering a broken hand, but he managed 27 points and 14 rebounds. Since then, WSU has won six of seven, Cal just four of eight. The Bears held off UW on Thursday, deflecting what has become intense criticism directed at fourth-year coach Todd Bozeman.

Leaders: WSU Isaac Fontaine, 18.4 ppg; Hendrickson, 9.9 rpg; Dominic Ellison, 5.2 apg. Cal - Abdur-Rahim, 21.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg; Jelani Gardner, 4.5 apg.

TV/Radio: ABC-TV (KXLY channel 4 in Spokane), with Roger Twibell and Larry Farmer. Radio, KXLY (920 AM), with Bud Nameck; 30 minutes before tipoff. , DataTimes
