Dollar Stays In Middle

The dollar turned in a mixed performance Monday, as selloffs in U.S. stock and Treasury bond markets sparked some foreign investors to withdraw funds and move them to other currencies.

The greenback finished barely down against the Japanese yen and just up against the German mark during a day of light-to-moderate trading bereft of economic data to guide events.

Analysts said traders assumed foreign investors were selling U.S. assets.
