Tune In To B Fever Whether On The Tube Or On The Radio, Tournament Action Stretches Far Beyond The Confines Of The Arena
In case of flood, arctic blast or apocalypse - and all are possible, given the winter Eastern Washington has experienced - there’s still no valid reason to miss the State B tournaments.
Every boys and girls game at the Arena will be broadcast on the radio.
KHQ-TV, channel 6, will televise Saturday’s championship games, at 7 p.m. for the girls and 9 p.m. for the boys.
KTRW-AM 970 will handle the first 20 games of the girls tournament, up to Friday’s semifinals. KJRB-AM 790 will take over for the 5 and 6:30 p.m. semis.
Todd Pickett, Larry Weir, Chuck DeBruin, Paul Seebeck and Paul Sorensen are scheduled to announce girls games.
Boys games will be divided among KXLY-AM 920, KJRB, KGA-AM 1510 and, possibly, KSBN-AM 1230.
KXLY will broadcast the first three games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, plus Saturday’s championship game.
The final three games Thursday belong to KGA.
KJRB is set to handle the final five games on Wednesday, the 1:30 and 5 games on Thursday and the final three games on Friday, including the semifinals. KJRB will also tentatively broadcast Saturday’s placing games although KSBN may fill in depending on KJRB’s plans with Gonzaga University basketball.
Veteran radio man Dick Wright will lend his inimitable style to the boys tournament.
