Bingo Pays Off For Cda Tribe Members

From Staff And Wire Reports

Members of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe each received a $300 Christmas bonus, thanks to high bingo proceeds.

Checks were issued to each of the tribe’s 1,424 members in December. The money comes out of the tribe’s natural resources budget, funded by timber and farming revenue.

Normally that natural resources money would fund tribal government programs. But the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo Hall generated $1,708,800 last year, freeing up the timber and farming income.

Tribal leaders plan to continue the payments in the future. Bingo money also benefits tribal schools, elder and youth programs and land acquisition. , DataTimes
