Board To Discuss School-Bond Issue

From Staff Reports

The Post Falls School Board is holding a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss a proposed bond issue to build a new high school.

The school administration is recommending a March 26 election for a $15.8 million bond levy that would build a basic high school and refurbish the heating system in the existing high school.

If voters approve the bond issue, the district would remodel the existing high school and turn it into a middle school. The existing junior high would be used as a fifth-grade center, freeing up room in the elementary schools for the kindergarten students to return from the kindergarten center at Frederick Post school.

The administration suggested listing an additional item on the ballot - $2.14 million to build an auditorium, football stadium and track. Voters could choose to approve the whole package, or just the basic high school, or nothing.

The School Board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
