Forecasters Say Storm, Snow Is Headed This Way
Three to six inches of snow are expected tonight as a new Pacific storm moves onshore and runs into cold air already in place over the Inland Northwest.
The National Weather Service in Spokane issued a storm watch for snowfall beginning just after evening rush hour, said John Livingston, chief meteorologist.
Moderate snowfall is forecast throughout the evening, but will begin to taper off sometime around 4 a.m. Friday.
Snow showers will remain in the forecast throughout Friday.
Forecasters said the center of the storm will move inland along the Columbia River and then travel southeast across southern Idaho.
That will keep the Inland Northwest under a colder weather pattern as the storm departs the region.
Heavier snow amounts could fall in mountainous areas, which will be good news for ski resorts that have struggled with thin snowpacks this season.
