College Basketball Tonight

San Francisco at Gonzaga

Gonzaga (11-4, 2-1 in West Coast Conference) takes on the Dons (10-6, 3-1) in a WCC game at 7 p.m. in the Martin Centre.

At a glance The Dons are coming off an impressive win (63-57) at Portland Thursday that snapped an 18-game home win streak by the Pilots. They did it by putting four new starters on the floor and using leading scorers John Duggan and Gerald Walker off the bench. In that game, the Dons held the Pilots to 36-percent shooting and outrebounded them 43-25. “This is a team that beat Stanford … a very, very dangerous team,” GU coach Dan Fitzgerald said. The deep Dons, under first-year coach Phil Mathews, had nine players play at least 16 minutes. Fitzgerald said he will once again start Lorenzo Rollins at the off-guard spot, but Kevin Williams will certainly see considerable action. Against Saint Mary’s last week, Rollins came off the bench to score 23, while against San Diego, Williams came on in relief to sink 4 of 5 3-point shots. “(Williams) had a great game,” Fitzgerald said. “Without him, we don’t win that game.” This is the Bulldogs’ homecoming game. GU has won 12 straight in The Kennel.

Gonzaga: Paul Rogers, 15.1 ppg; Scott Snider, 8.1 rpg; Kyle Dixon, 5.0 apg. San Francisco: John Duggan, 15.1 ppg; Zerrick Campbell, 7.7 rpg; Gerald Walker, 5.1 apg.

Whitworth at George Fox

Whitworth (11-2 overall, 3-0 Northwest Conference) heads to George Fox (5-6, 1-1) for a game tonight at 8.

At a glance The ninth-ranked Pirates are coming off a 78-57 win over Whitman at the Whitworth Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. The Pirates must find a way to contain Jared Gallop. At 22.2 points a game, Gallop is the Northwest Conference’s leading scorer. In addition, Travis Othick (12.4), Nick Haij (12.1) and Grant Hartenstein (10.8) are averaging in double figures. Whitworth is led by Nate Dunham’s 18.6 points a contest.

Radio: KSBN (1230 AM) with Chuck DeBruin.
