Nbc Tops Weekly Ratings
NBC’s Thursday night lineup, led by “Friends,” finished 1-2-3-4-5 in the latest weekly ratings.
The network also had the No. 8 show, the Tuesday midseason hit “3rd Rock from the Sun,” and the No. 10 program, “Frasier,” winning the overall ratings for the week of Jan. 15-21, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday.
NBC got an 11.6 rating and an 18 share, ABC had an 11.0 rating and an 18 share, and CBS remained in third place with a 10.0 rating and a 16 share.
A single ratings point equals 959,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation’s 95.9 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use sets tuned to a particular program.
Among the evening newscasts, ABC’s “World News Tonight” won for the 176th time out of the last 177 weeks, this time with a 10.5 rating. NBC’s “Nightly News” had a 9.3, and CBS’ “Evening News” got an 8.6.
