Cannons, Browne Mountain Beat Cda

Andy Imada and Nate Lynch homered to pace the Cannons past Coeur d’Alene 8-5 in the second day of action at the Fourth of July AAA American Legion baseball tournament at Whitworth’s Paul Merkel Field.

The Browne Mountain Bandits added to CdA’s woes Friday, beating the Lumbermen 9-1.

Derek Fountain struck out four and allowed just three hits in the rout.

Later Friday, the Redmond Black Sox routed the Cannons 12-4 after amassing eight runs in the first.

In the other games at Jackson Field, Post Falls and the Spokane Royals played to a 7-7 tie that was called because of time.

PF scored four runs in the top of the seventh to forge the deadlock.

However, the Tacoma Knights had plenty of time to beat the Royals. They did so 15-7.

Tacoma riddled the Royals with a seven-run second to put the game out of reach. Chris Wilson did the most damage for the Royals, going 4 for 4 with three singles and a double.

The Knights went on to defeat the North Stars 6-3. Aaron Morrow got the win and went 3 for 4 at the plate.

As for the Blue Devils, they routed the Lynwood Shockers 8-0. Jason Miller pitched his first game of the season for the win.

Later, the BMB’s beat Lynwood 6-4. The Mountain Bandits’ Jim Gewlat threw a five hitter and struck out seven.
