Upper Goose Blocked
Angler access The road to Grant County’s Upper Goose Lake was closed Wednesday, forcing anglers to walk nearly a mile to reach the year-round fishing lake.
This is the latest example of how wildlife managers continue to be overwhelmed by people-management problems.
The road was closed because the out-of-the-way site had a chronic problem with litter and sanitation. While anglers quietly cast and trolled for bass and sunfish, non-sportsmen came to party and dive off rock cliffs.
A recent wildfire in the area finally convinced Washington Fish and Wildlife Department officials that they had no choice but to reduce the vehicle traffic into the area to keep it from being trashed. , DataTimes
