Gregory Peck Feeling Better After Surgery

Actor Gregory Peck reportedly was sipping tea and feeling better Sunday after falling ill at a film festival in a Czech spa town and undergoing surgery for appendicitis.

The 80-year-old actor, who won an Oscar in 1962 for his portrayal of southern lawyer Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” was hospitalized shortly before midnight Saturday in Karlovy Vary, hospital officials said.

He was feeling better Sunday after surgery, and was able to drink some tea, festival spokesman Pavel Melounek told the Czech news agency CTK.

Peck was in stable condition and probably would need to stay in the hospital another week, CTK reported, quoting Stanislav Kubin, chief surgeon at the Karlovy Vary hospital.
