Lakeside Students Receive Scholarships, Awards
The Lakeside High School Class of 1996 has received the following scholarships and awards:
Jake Bixby, Inland Empire Club of Printing House Craftsmen, $500.
Karen Bruno, Northwest Masonic Lodge Scholarship Award, $100; Washington State University Academic Scholarship, $1,000.
Ryan Chicoine and Joel Gilrein each received a Philip Bessermin Memorial Scholarship, $500.
Sage Davis and Eric Dean each were awarded an Amanda Crisp Memorial Scholarship, $500.
Jim Gilles, Washington State Honors Award.
Lora Jolley, Athletic Scholarship - Lewis and Clark College, $14,800.
Heather McKinney, Oregon State University Grant, $7,745.
Heather McNeece, WSU Tuition Grant, $17,292.
Tracy O’Brien, Nine Mile Falls Booster Club Scholarship, $500.
Chris Padayao, Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award.

Dan Silver, Belmont University Academic Scholarship, $16,000; Northwest Masonic Lodge Scholarship, $100; Washington State Honors Award.
Nick Som, Gonzaga University Dussault Award, $22,000; Seattle Pacific University Trustee’s Scholarship, $30,000; Loyola University, New Orleans, $22,000; Deer Park Ambulance Scholar Award, $250; Washington State Honors Award.
Ben Spiger, Carroll College President’s Scholarship, $16,000; Nine Mile Falls Booster Club Scholarship, $500; Washington State Honors Award.
Joe Tenny, Nine Mile Education Association Scholarship, $500; Principal’s Award.
A special award went to a 1993 graduate of Lakeside High School. Tag Baugh received an Amanda Crisp Memorial Scholarship for $500.
Ryan Patterson, daughter of Don and Peggy Patterson, Spokane, and Dawn Melton, daughter of John Melton, Tigard, Ore., and Christine Anderson, Spokane, each have been accepted at Cottey College, Nevada, Mo. Both students are graduates of Ferris High School, with Patterson planning to study business, and Melton planning to study law and education. Patterson has received a $2,000 academic scholarship and a $3,000 Washington state P.E.O. scholarship.
Nicholas Bachhuber, Spokane, recently met with President Clinton, along with fellow Peace Corps volunteers, before departing for two years of service in Ghana. Bachhuber recently graduated from Notre Dame University and will teach chemistry and physics in Ghana.
Valley Hospital and Medical Center has achieved accreditation with commendation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. This is the highest level of accreditation awarded by the joint commission, which is the nation’s oldest and largest accrediting body.
Thomas Neville, a student at Gonzaga University, has been awarded the first Tim Sarbaugh Memorial Scholarship by the Spokane-Limerick Sister City Society to attend the University of Limerick in the fall. His hometown is Homer, Alaska.
