Shadow Plays For Postseason Positioning
The Spokane Shadow can clinch the top seed in the USISL postseason tournament which they are hosting. But first, they must beat Bellingham tonight.
The Shadow trail San Francisco by two points in the Northern Division of the USISL’s Western Premier League. San Francisco has finished its regular season and the Shadow has two games left.
The Shadow play Bellingham at 7 tonight at Spokane Falls Community College.
The regular-season finale is Saturday at 7 p.m. at SFCC against Southern California. One win, worth three points, clinches the division title.
To determine playoff seedings, only the 14 games against other premier teams count. San Francisco finished 10-4 for 30 points. Spokane is 10-2 with 28 points.
San Francisco lost to Puget Sound 2-1 on Friday. San Francisco is in third place with 24 points and an 8-4 record. Then, Puget Sound lost to Central Coast, the leader in the Southern Division.
The playoffs are Aug. 10-11 beginning with the No. 1 seed vs. the No. 4 seed in the 6 p.m. game. The No. 2 team will meet No. 3 at 8 p.m.
The winners will meet Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. The champion advances to the national finals in Coco Beach, Fla.
Colorado Springs is in fourth place with an 8-5 record and 22 points.
Spokane owns two victories over Bellingham this season, 2-0 in Bellingham and a shootout at SFCC. It also beat Southern California 1-0 in Los Angeles. , DataTimes
