Cow Pies Will Benefit Trinity School Budget
New meaning will be given to the old antacid ad “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz” today at the Trinity School.
Instead of settling one’s stomach, however, Trinity’s sixth annual “Cow Plop” might upset a delicate constitution.
The school, at 1306 W. Montgomery, has rented a cow for the day, and at 1 p.m. will turn it loose to graze in a field squared off with randomly numbered pieces of turf. “Udder Lotto” chances will be sold for $3 per square, and when the cow answers Mother Nature’s call, the owner of the square with the plop wins big bucks.
There will be three $1,000 first-place winners, along with 24 $50 prizes for those holding adjacent pooping squares.
School officials, who want to sell 4,096 tickets, hope participants won’t turn up their noses figuratively at the Cow Plop, since proceeds help maintain the school’s general fund.
Besides the excitement of watching Bessie make cow pies, there will be a Bovine Boutique of hand-crafted items, a kiddie carnival, games, miniature golf and a barbecue.
Catholic, universally speaking
The Rev. Rex Koivisto, chairman of the Bible and theology department at Multnomah Bible College & Seminary in Portland, will be guest speaker at the June 11 Union Gospel Mission Luncheon.
Koivisto will discuss his book, “One Lord/One Faith: A Theology for Cross-Denominational Renewal.”
The minister said the “one church” Christ talked of is best described as “catholicity,” unifying the church around a core of orthodoxy and allowing for the diversity spawned by conviction and conscience.
For reservations, call 535-8510.
