Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: In our family of nonfishermen we have always had tackle boxes. We use them as portable first aid kits.

It started with our family camping trips and many Girl Scout field trips. Now all of the kids have their own kits for their own family outings.

I hope this helps other families travel better protected and prepared for the unexpected. - Mrs. David Smithwick, Houston

Dear Heloise: If you don’t have a large pillar-type candle in the right matching color, you can take an old candle and wrap it in a small piece of lace of the desired shade. With a candle ring it will look quite elegant. For decoration only - not for burning. Saves money too! - From Celeste, Indianapolis

Good hint! Remember, the candle is for decoration only! Do not burn it! - Heloise

Dear Heloise: To get a dog to take a pill without a hassle, do as our vet, Dr. Cox, suggested. Cut off a piece of a wiener, make a slit and slip in the pill. One gulp, it’s gone! - Lee Smith, Leonard, Texas
