Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: We always have rust rings from the shaving cream can on the sink top and the ledge of the bathtub.

Does anyone else tire of scrubbing away these stains or is this something I have to learn to live with? - Leslie C., Oxnard, Calif.

You are not the only one fighting this problem, but there are ways around it and here are several to choose from:

Store the shaving cream can upside down on its flat plastic top. Plastic doesn’t rust.

Find a plastic coaster that matches your bathroom decor and use it to set the shaving cream on. The plastic lid from a small plastic margarine tub works great.

Insulated foam drink holders can be slipped over the can to prevent it from leaving rust rings.

One of these will surely do the trick. Thanks for writing. - Heloise
