Sixers Hire Davis

Associated Press

Johnny Davis, a former Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach and 10-year NBA player, was named head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.

“It’s rare to find somebody who can be defined as uniquely qualified, but those are the words that accurately describe Johnny Davis,” new general manager Brad Greenberg said in a statement. “Johnny has a multitude of NBA experience - 19 years in all. He’s a man of the highest integrity.”

Davis worked for Greenberg when the general manager was in the Trail Blazers’ front office.
