Cause Of Wwp Outage Unknown

From Staff And Wire Reports

Hundreds of Washington Water Power customers - including Kootenai Medical Center - lost power for about an hour Thursday after problems developed at a substation.

The outage started at about 1 p.m., shutting off power to many businesses near the hospital and in areas northwest of Appleway and U.S. Highway 95, said Dana Anderson, spokeswoman for WWP.

The outages started after a large distributor line coming out of the Appleway substation stopped delivering power, Anderson said. WWP officials were unsure why the line shut down.

Power was restored by about 1:50 p.m.
