Double-Murder Jury From Canyon County

The jury for the trial of accused double-murderer Wenkai Li will be selected in Canyon County.

Second District Judge Ida Leggett authorized selection of a jury from outside Moscow because of questions raised about the integrity of Li’s attorney, Michael Henegen, whose billings as a public defender in the case have been criticized by the Latah County Commission.

Henegen had asked for the entire trial to be moved out of the county, but Leggett denied that motion. Li goes on trial July 8 for the first-degree murders of fellow University of Idaho graduate student Ning Li and his wife a year ago. He could face the death penalty if convicted.
