Cage, Connery Are Rock Solid

Take away its lead performers and Michael Bay’s “The Rock” is just another typical action-thriller. But Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery are never just typical anything. Newly crowned Best Actor Cage, especially, gives this tale of military terrorism a needed sense of comic relief - and he does so without losing a hint of his character’s inherent authenticity.
