Dear Heloise: If I would have known this years ago, I don’t think I’d have as much gray hair.

As a dog breeder I want to save as much money as possible. A friend told me she used a child’s small hard plastic swimming pool and lined it with towels, wood chips or unprinted paper as bedding for the litters.

The pool can be moved around easily. No mess or fuss, just clean, happy puppies.

My house will never again be upside down with chew toys, puppies underfoot and potty spots. - Suzie Zimmerman, Anaconda, Mont.

Good idea! I’m sure that would work for small dogs. My secretary’s Rottweiler had 13 puppies, so she would have needed a full-size pool for that bunch!

I have compiled a pamphlet full of ideas and hints for all dog lovers, especially first-time dog owners.
