Blanchet Eases To Repeat Of Crown
AA girls
A rematch was just another mismatch as defending champion Blanchet beat Sea-King District rival Kennedy 60-29 Saturday for the girls State AA high school basketball championship at the Tacoma Dome.
Forward Nadia Morgan scored 19 points and center Holly Millard added 17 for the Braves (28-1) in the most lopsided title game in the tournament’s 19-year history. The old mark was set by Lakeside, 75-49 over Meadowdale in 1994.
Blanchet’s lone loss in its last 49 games was a 70-50 defeat against Chief Sealth in the district title game a week earlier. Reserve Porsche Austin scored seven for the sixth-ranked Lancers (24-6).
