Three Share Bay Hill Lead

Compiled From Wire Services

Despite the changes Arnold Palmer ordered on the course, Mark O’Meara, Paul Goydos and Glen Day showed why the Bay Hill Invitational in Orlando, Fla., usually comes down to good putting.

Each shot a 5-under-par 67 to share the lead after the first round at Bay Hill Club, where the greens got faster and the play got slower as the round progressed.

Pat Bradley, an LPGA Hall of Famer starting her 23rd year on the tour, persevered through a squall at the Ping-Welch’s Championship in Tucson, Ariz., to finish at 4-under-par 68 and catch up with Liselotte Neumann and Trish Johnson for a share of the lead.

Chuck Scally, a pro golfer who spent 48 years in the PGA, died of brain cancer. He was 71. Scally played in 13 U.S. Opens, seven PGA championships, eight U.S. Senior Opens and 13 PGA Senior Championships.
