Former Cowboy Questioned
Former Dallas Cowboys tight ends Alfredo Roberts appeared before a Dallas grand jury investigating the arrest of a woman on drug possession charges.
Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin and Roberts, a teammate of Irvin at the University of Miami and with the Cowboys 1991-92, were present when the woman was arrested earlier this month. Irvin did not appear before grand jurors and will testify Tuesday.
The New England Patriots signed 6-foot-2-inch, 285-pound Mark Wheeler, a free agent who started 46 of the 55 games for which he was active with Tampa Bay the past four years.
The Buffalo Bills signed former Iowa State linebacker Marc Lillibridge to a free-agent contract. Lillibridge, who was waived by Philadelphia in training camp last season, was not selected in the NFL draft.
St. Louis Rams defensive end D’Marco Farr, who was among the league leaders in sacks last season, signed a seven-year, $10.25 million contract extension.
The deal includes a signing bonus of about $2.5 million for Farr, who was the only rookie free agent to make the team in 1994.
