Area Water Systems Fail State Tests

Compiled From Wire Services

Five North Idaho public drinking water systems violated state environmental regulations by failing to routinely monitor their water, the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality announced Friday.

The state requires that water utilities regularly test for coliform bacteria to make sure the water is safe to drink.

The City of Hayden Lake, H&D Trailer Court, the City of Huetter, Lake Forest Home Assoc. Inc., and Earl Reamy Water System failed to test their water systems in November or December of 1995, according to the DEQ.

In addition, the water utilities violated DEQ regulations by failing to notify their customers that the tests had not been done.
