Mclain To Be Arraigned
Two men charged with former Detroit Tigers pitcher Denny McLain were arraigned in the looting of a pension fund.
Roger Smigiel, 44, of Rochester Hills, and financial consultant Jeffrey A. Egan, 35, of Bloomfield Hills, pleaded innocent to federal charges of conspiracy, theft of pension plan money, mail fraud and money laundering.
McLain is scheduled for arraignment today.
McLain, 52, of Brighton, Smigiel and Egan are accused of transferring more than $12 million of Peet Packing Co. pension plan money to Michigan National Bank, then converting $3 million of that for personal and company use.
