Nine Attorneys Line Up To Replace Magistrate
Nine attorneys - most of them from North Idaho - have applied to become the next Shoshone County magistrate.
Judge Neil O. Walter retired on May 1. He had been the Shoshone County Magistrate since 1983.
A magistrate commission will convene in Shoshone County on June 10 to review the applications. Interviews will be conducted and a decision made on June 17.
The applicants are:
Jeffrey S. Barkdull, of Wallace and Spokane.
Michael K. Branstetter, of Wallace
Dan McGee, Shoshone County Prosecutor
Frederick G. Loats, of Coeur d’Alene
J. Lynn Miller, of Arco, Idaho
Paul R. Panther, of Bainbridge Island, Wash.
Michael F. Peacock, of Kellogg
Benjamin R. Simpson, of Wallace
Lawrence G. Smith, of Boise
