Beeson’s Bigfoot Kick Over Shadow
Playing catchup almost from the start, the Spokane Shadow (3-0 USISL, 4-1 overall) absorbed their first regular-season loss Friday, 2-1 to the Everett Bigfoot in a non-league soccer match.
Craig Beeson scored twice for Everett, the first at 7:40 when he headed a rebound past Spokane keeper John Nagel, and again at 81 minutes when he went one-on-one with Nagel and beat him.
Spokane squandered several scoring chances, including a penalty kick when Todd Strobeck made a save. The Shadow got on the board at 84:30 when Zane Higgins moved the ball down the left side and crossed in front to Chris Stiles, who volleyed in a shot from 6 yards out.
The Shadow (3-0 USISL, 4-1 overall) played without starters Chad Brown and Dave Berto, who were rested for Sunday’s 2 p.m. USISL match against Puget Sound at Gig Harbor, and lost defender Stuart Saunders to a red card for a hard tackle at 34 minutes.
