Dear Heloise: When my husband didn’t call me at work at my usual lunch time, I worried about him. Did he get in an accident? Was he stuck somewhere? He finally called me before I left work. That incident got me thinking, if anything did happen, how would anyone reach me?

My husband only had his ID in his wallet, nothing with my name and work number. I asked my co-workers if their husbands carried their name and work number with them and all said no.

We all made cards with our names, work numbers and instructions to call between the hours of 9 and 5 in case of an emergency and asked our husbands to keep the cards in their wallets. We did the same with their names and work numbers. Now, in case of an emergency, I would be contacted. - Joyce Brady, San Antonio xxxx
