American League
Pinch-hitter Charlie O’Brien singled home the winning run in the 10th inning Thursday night as the Toronto Blue Jays rallied for a 5-4 win over the Minnesota Twins at Toronto.
John Olerud opened the 10th with his third hit, a single off Mike Milchin (1-1) and pinch-hitter Robert Perez sacrificed pinch-runner Felipe Crespo to second. O’Brien followed by singling to right-center off Erik Bennett to score Crespo well ahead of right fielder Roberto Kelly’s throw.
Reliever Marty Jansen (2-0) struck out six in 4-2/3 innings for the win as the Blue Jays snapped a three-game losing streak.
The Blue Jays trailed 4-1 after three innings but fought back to tie it in the sixth on Jacob Brumfield’s solo homer. Brumfield, acquired from Pittsburgh on May 15, hit his first homer in the A.L. off Pat Mahomes.
Olerud, who drove in two runs, cut the Twins’ lead to 4-2 with a leadoff homer in the fourth, his eighth. He added an RBI double in the fifth that brought Toronto within 4-3.
Roberto Kelly had three hits, including his first homer of the season, and drove in three runs for the Twins.

Indians 5, Brewers 1 Cleveland

Hershiser, tagged for seven runs and eight hits in three innings last Friday against Texas, held the Brewers to seven hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Royals 4, Rangers 2 Kansas City, Mo.
David Howard stole home, and Craig Paquette and Sal Fasano hit solo homers as Kansas City beat Texas for its fourth straight win.
Kevin Appier lasted 7-2/3 innings for Kansas City, giving up two runs on eight hits.
“I thought he was outstanding,” Royals manager Bob Boone said. “He had a good fastball and was making his pitches on the inside corner to left-handers. He was aggressive. Then his other stuff worked well.”
