Fresh from his invasion of England, O.J. Simpson showed up on Hungarian television this week via a satellite feed from Los Angeles.

Simpson reportedly has been negotiating TV appearances in several countries, including Japan and South Africa, at $10,000 a pop. Said a source: “The thinking is that if he becomes acceptable all over the world, the United States will be forced to accept him.”

The Hungarian interviewer in Budapest introduced Simpson in English with a heavy accent: “We have our hero O.J. Simpson waiting for us.”

Simpson, sitting against a backdrop of the Los Angeles skyline, denied reports he plans to move to the British Isles and insisted he’s not an outcast in America, adding: “I get love and support everywhere I go.”

Loose talk

Veteran comic Jackie Mason, on the O.J. trial: “It used to be that you were innocent until you were proven guilty. Now O.J. Simpson has shown us that you’re innocent after you’ve been proven guilty.”

Here’s hoping that her day ends on a high note

It will be OK so long as the baby don’t breech

Madonna’s camp is denying a New York Daily News story saying a sonogram shows the Maternal, er, Material Girl will be delivering one, to be named Lola. As for reports that the delivery will be by C-section, a spokeswoman sniffed: “She does not know how she will give birth; that will be up to the doctor.”

You just have to understand her prophet motive

Yoko Ono, whose late hubby John Lennon once drew fire for suggesting the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, is in hot water for ripping apart a Bible and throwing pages into the audience during a New York City gig with son Sean. Said Ono: “I am sorry. I did not mean to offend them by distributing the words of God.”

Sounds like he’s one of those frequent fliers

Eric Douglas, actor Kirk’s youngest son, was arrested this week after police found 11 vials of crack and 1,085 anti-depressant pills in his Manhattan apartment. He was previously busted twice for disrupting airplane flights, fondling attendants and insisting his dog sit on his lap.

It was probably one of his family heirlooms

Among the items on the block at an auction next Friday in Long Beach, Calif., is a “Ventura County arrest card signed ‘Charles Manson,’ 8-inch by 8-inch manila card stock, text printed in black, with Manson’s own fingerprints visible and intact … Very fine.”

And O.J. is more than willing to help you look

David Duchovny of “The X-Files,” on the show’s popularity (in Rolling Stone): “(It) offers a kind of Oliver Stone world where there are bad guys and they’re the reason we’re all unhappy. If only we can find these bad, white, middle-age men who killed Kennedy, stole and hid the UFOs, then killed my father … everything would be cool.”
