Princeton Takes Lacrosse Title
Jesse Hubbard, who has perhaps the hardest, fastest shot in lacrosse, scored Princeton’s first and last goals during a three-goal performance against Virginia.
His final one, a rocket from 10 yards out, went by the knee of goalie Chris Sanderson 34 seconds into overtime and gave the Tigers a 13-12 victory and the NCAA championship for the third time in five seasons.
All three championship victories have been accomplished in overtime.
Princeton (14-1) had been seeded first in the 12-team tournament. Virginia (12-4), the only team to beat the Tigers this season, was No. 3.
